Prior to joining Tall Oak, Ben has spent over 27 years in the investment management industry where he expanded his investment capabilities across global equities, hedging strategies, multi asset portfolio construction and asset allocation for institutional and retail clients. Ben’s relentless determination to deliver long-term capital growth, while preserving shareholder’s capital led him to RIT Capital Partners (London, UK) (2005 – 2010; 2015-2017) and sister company Windmill Hill Asset Management (2017-2019). Under his leadership as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at Windmill Hill, Ben oversaw all investment decisions and overall asset allocation strategy. Returning to Canada in 2010-2015, he launched a Global Equity Fund at Highstreet Asset Management, a Canadian-based quantitative investment firm and served as the company’s President and CIO. Prior to that Ben managed a multi-billion dollar portfolio at Morgan Stanley, London, UK (2002-2005) and Invesco, London, UK (1995-2002). Between 1993 and 1995, he got his start in a client-facing role at an independent, diversified financial services company in Toronto.

Ben engages in deep fundamental research on the companies he invests in. His experience in dealing with and meeting the management teams of hundreds of large corporations gives him a unique insight into Canada’s place in the increasingly global investment universe.

While in the UK Ben also volunteered his time as an Investment Committee member of the Courtauld Institute, an endowment supporting Education and the Arts.  Today Ben sits on the Investment committee of a local London Endowment as a volunteer.  Ben lives in Old North with his wife and two children.
